RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT      Research was and still is the driving force for VIORYL. Each year a significant part of the company’s turnover (15%) is invested in research and development of new technologies (biotechnology, nanotechnology) and products. VIORYL’s research team focuses at synthesis of aroma fine chemicals with higher yield and lower cost, improvement of synthetic routes and production processes as well as studying natural products by isolating (and developing new applications for them) compounds of special interest for perfumery and fine chemicals industry. Carrying on a 60 years old effort in research of aromatic and pharmaceutical plants, VIORYL has invested in establishing a modern production unit for the isolation of compounds from such plants. During the last decade new methods have been developed in this front. Research in VIORYL has revealed that “alive” plants at their natural environment, exude aroma which is much closer to their natural one compared with “dead” plant parts that are used by the industry for essential oil and concrete production. This led to the development of a new technology (patented) for the isolation of aroma from “alive” plants (“Living Blossoms”). The new fragrances were widely applied to high perfumery products, cosmetology and alternative medicine (aromatherapy). On the agricultural front, research projects on plant physiology as well as systematic field tests form the basis for the development of new plant nutrition and plant protection products. VIORYL’s research orientation is greatly enhanced by:   the highly qualified scientists working for the company the modern chemical analysis instruments (e.g. gas chromatography – mass spectrometry units (GC-MS), gas chromatography units (GC), high pressure liquid chromatography units (HPLC), liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry units (LC-MS), FT-IR and NMR spectrometers) continuous updating on international scientific literature and numerous research programs sponsored either by the company’s funds or through national and international subsidies.    The strong research background of the company guarantees that VIORYL will always be there for our customers to face successfully the most demanding technical challenges.
